When Pierce McIntyre first tagged me to join in writing for Plethora of Pop, I was slightly taken aback. While music is a big part of the day, with it almost always on as the background to my writing, I have never considered myself a radio head. Yet, I’ve found that the music prompts and challenges have been great writing exercises.

When this latest prompt came along, I smiled and thought, “this is something I can do,” and penciled it onto my writing schedule. As per the original prompt, (below) this is my submission.

For this short fictional tale, the focus was much more on incorporating song titles with some sort of reference to transportation, than it was to create a moving piece of writing. And it was fun. But, with over 50 song titles littered throughout the story, I managed to use only one Springsteen title, ensuring that Paul Combs has plenty of road left to travel, should he decide to add a submission of his own.
