Correct. Not so long ago, after listening to a fav podcast, Writers on Writing, I took on a book heralded as some great, new American voice. The guy was so boring, his pace was brutal, he bludgeoned the reader with excessive, mundane detail. I couldn't finish it. And it's been awarded up the ying-yang.
