Honestly, if I were you (a teacher) the next class would have been a lesson on breaking down the word gaslighting. I would have begun with, "The other day one my students accused me of gaslighting them because I was not sympathetic to their desire for an A, while their work only qualified for a C. Today's lesson will be a focus on 'gaslighting', it's usage and consequences"

Then I'd write the word on the board, look over my shoulder and say, "You should probably take notes."
