I am shocked this was made into a miniseries! Well, the Brits do LOVE that entitled period of high society! Irons is excellent!
As for the grabbing, as I mentioned, I was conflicted because the writing was wonderful, clean, and poetic. My issue was that the author wasn't saying anything significant. How did this family story from any other, then or now? It has no meat, it's merely a posh story and I have trouble giving empathy to characters who have every benefit in life and still struggle. None of the characters did anything serious with their lives.
