I only recently read the book, (and review it here) but I thought it was as close to a perfect story as you could get.

I thought Jo would change her mind and take Laurie, and was a bit surprised she didn't. I agree with you on her fears and insecurities. But I also think she liked the idea of love, more than love itself. Her character remained true to her practical self.

I LOVED the book.
