I think that has been my saving grace, being able to say NO at a young(ish) age, say late 20s. And I don't feel bad when I do. Going out and some jolly partier buying drinks, "here, have it. I bought it." But I still said, no.

Now, about the only person who can get a NO into a yes, is the Missus, but not every time--I'm still playing hard to get!
