If a person, non-American like yours truly, tried to understand America, state-by-state, through it's laws, their head would implode.

I keep trying. It doesn't seem like many of these states are even part of the same country.

Canada is much easier. Quebec hates Canada, most Canadians resent Quebec, the East Coast remains poor and small, the West rich and over populated. Toronto is clueless about the rest of the country, and everyone else gets along.
