It may be morbid but I have thought of this often. I would. I would take the opportunity to talk to those that made an impact, thank them, tell them they were important to me and that whatever contribution they made to my life, mattered.
Your story mirrors a local hockey mom, daughter played with my daughter and my wife and the lady played together in a woman’s hockey league. The lady had a brain tumour. Lots of ups and downs. Remissions and flare ups. Then, that was it. It was going to win. She had a timeline. The lady organized a hockey tournament weekend to say goodbye. Friends of hers who could play and couldn’t came out and skated. She passed soon afterward. The ladies have kept the tournament going annually. I think it’s a much better way to leave this world, waving away rather than a sudden vanishing. My heart goes out to you and your friend.
