I've been in the support letter situation. I penned it, and removed myself from the guilt and remained attached to the boy I grew up with. I wrote to him in jail and helped him get work when he got out. But he took accountability for everything and fought nothing. It was a life worth being there for and more importantly, he came from a good family, and it was important they knew that there son wasn't garbage.
