Ah, Spring! The season of blossoms and rebirth, longer days under a warming sun where birds sing songs of courtship and flowers bloom. Shedding the dark, dreary days of winter, trips to the grocers and shops come with the reappearance of women in dresses with bare arms, legs, and naked feet in the simplest sandals.
Yes, it’s springtime again, and it’s beautiful.

A Canadian spring, by the calendar, runs from its equinox on March 20 to the summer solstice on June 21. The actual Canadian spring arrives after May long weekend, commonly known as May two-four when Canadians celebrate Victoria Day, our national holiday celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday.
May 24th falls within the holiday weekend, and Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast head into the wilderness to camp with flats (two-fours) of beer stacked high. We fish, four-wheel, mountain bike, camp, and then emerge from our tents to see two feet of fresh snow.
