lol! Right!! Are you still writing there? I abandoned Vocal a while ago. It was list of one finger salutes that finally got me to wake up. Even though I scored six top stories, its the challenges I was there for. After being ignored even qualifying as one of the 1250 fiction finalists, with 15 entries AND while reading a handful of typo laden, grammatically atrocious submissions that were accepted I was on my way out. My last gasp was the dog story challenge. When the story of my dog saving my life was ignored in favor of three winners with run of the mill, nothing special, dog adoption stories, I couldn't hit "cancel membership" fast enough. Now they hold my final $16.29 as ransom, since I need to earn $35 before I am allowed to withdraw. Fuck it and them.

Great article here, LRB. You don't need Vocal, you have our love and are forever our Queen of Cringe.
