Epiphany. My daughter has very high standards and no one is immune from her judgement. Not even the King of Rock n’ Roll.

The other night we sat down and watched the movie, “Elvis.” Sorry Simon Dillon, it was not on the big screen but the show was a massive hit.

My daughter, at 13, didn’t understand the mania of Elvis Presley when he hit the big time. We paused the movie to explain the boundaries he broke, the reaction of his fans, the hysteria of the women losing their minds in his presence. She was entranced, enthralled and bewildered.

Revelation. The examples I’ve set as a father and husband have made an impact.

The scene of Elvis on his opening night show in Vegas gave me goosebumps. We watched as he ceased to be a person and became an instrument; a vessel of emotion.

To the adults watching, it delivered awe.

To my daughter, watching the icon make his way through the audience of adoring women, and kissing them, it brought scathing declarations.
