Currently, the temperature outside my home sits at a frosty -20°c/-4°f. I am inside attending to my list, read/promo/study/write/engage/read. I’m also cold. Since being infected with CoVid a couple of weeks ago, my body will not warm up and there’s a fist all balled up in my ribcage with its knuckles pressing against my sternum. At this point, comfort is but a memory.

Revelation-A husband’s comfort matters less than a wife’s convenience.

Missus — “Your daughter needs feminine products. We’re also out of milk.” she remarks after gliding into my writing space like a ghost. “It’s cold outside but one of us needs to go to the store.”

Now, it should be stated that my wife has been ever watchful and concerned about the lingering CoVid. She’s a born worrier.

Me — “Ugh, it’s minus twenty out there at least. I’m still cold, even after a hot shower.”

Missus — “I know. It’s just awful, I feel terrible for you, I really do.”

Me — “…”

Missus — “…”

Missus — “So, I guess you’ll go then?”

Me — “Yup. I guess I’ll go”

Both of us — “lol.”

Epiphany; Even in a world where some masculinity is considered toxic, a woman still wants the choice of staying safe, warm and comfortable-her gentleman will have to survive the elements.

And because he is one, he will go.
