Does this chair make me look fat?

Revelation: I’m getting fat.

I’ve been very busy freelance writing with an awesome client during the past few weeks. The project is coming to a close and I will miss the work, the client and the money, which has been nothing less than life saving.

My writing days are long but they begin with writing on my WIP novel and writing pieces for literary magazines, contests, and editor’s submission calls.

This schedule has kept my arse planted in this chair. I leave the chair mostly to make food, either for myself or my family.

The other night I noticed I was packing a bit more mass and declared the fact to the two other humans in this house.

Me-Wow! I’m fat! I’m grabbing the scale. Who wants to guess the number?

Epiphany: My wife is clearly the funny one in the family, even when her humor is merciless and unintended.

Fun fact bonus: During the two decades of marriage to this woman, I’ve maintained a steady weight that fluctuates a mere 5lbs. 163–168lbs is my range. At my heaviest, when I worked the oil rigs and hit the gym, I was a ripped 178lbs.
