While tidying up around the house today, I saw one of my daughter’s workbooks. I opened it for a peek (it’s not a diary-don’t worry) and the first page greeted me with her writing.

I think she’s got the goods.

Revelation: It is an amazing thing to see your child catch, match or surpass a parent’s skill.

My daughter is a great kid with strong passions. This season, while watching her hockey practices, games and camps, I could see that she has surpassed my skill set on the ice. Her skating is smooth, technically strong and her edging is excellent.

I can’t teach her any more about how to move on the ice. Now, my teaching is how to think on it and she’s a very coachable kid.

She has my passion, compete level and leadership drive. Her goal is to earn a hockey scholarship to University. From there? Who knows? The world is her ice rink.

Epiphany: For the rest of my child rearing years, I’ll be playing keep-up as much as raise up.

and I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do with her life and I’m thrilled that she sticks her nose in a book and pen to paper.
