Rate-a-Record Vol. 14 — No Words Required.
Two short instrumentals that deliver lyrics in melody.
Seated at the top left corner of my roll-top writing desk is my Sony SRS-XB41 Bluetooth speaker. A row of books obscures the blue-sky view through the window; most are read, with new additions waiting in line.
This is my happy place.
I begin my writing day with reading, but before I pull up the first article to read or edit, I turn the speaker on, sync to my phone, and open Spotify. In almost all instances, I start my sound cloud of focus by tapping my “Music for Writing” playlist. It currently sits at 8h 36m playing time, housing music of all genres, and continues to grow.
Two of my favorite mood-setting tracks are instrumentals without a word dropped in between beats and chord strums. Despite no lyrics, the songs tell a story — and it’s a different one each time.
