The Disappearance of Michael Dunahee.

March 24, 1991, was a normal seasonal spring day in the beautiful Canadian West Coast city of Victoria, British Columbia.

Just after lunchtime, a young family headed to a local school field for an afternoon of fun, exercise, and sunshine.

What happened next forever altered the lives of the Dunahee family. A city was stripped of its idyllic innocence and the country was gripped in fear and worry.

Crystal Dunahee was meeting her flag football team in the field of Blanshard Elementary School for a practice session. With her was her four and half-year-old son, Michael. The bright, blue-eyed, sandy blonde-haired boy was eager to play as well. Spying the playground at the end of the field, Michael saw children at play and asked his mother if he could join them. Crystal was waiting for her husband, Bruce to arrive at the field momentarily to join them. Crystal looked to the playground, not twenty yards from the field where she would be practicing. She saw the playground filled with children and parents sitting around visiting while keeping an eye on their youngsters. Crystal reported later of “having a gut feeling something wasn’t quite right,” [1] but she relented knowing her husband was walking to the field and would be there to watch him. She allowed…
