The Sing-Song Each Letter in Your Name Game: Christmas Edition
5 days until Christmas and 5 letters in my name draws a 2nd edition of this musical challenge and a little Nagy Christmas history.
“How is this a surprise?” My wife asks me with a look of incredulity.
“It happens at the same time every year. You need to stop with the complaining; I’m Mrs. Santa — this is what I do.” (Those are her actual words with zero artistic exaggeration)
That was my morning scolding as my wife revealed yet another “must-have Christmas gift for our daughter.” It doesn’t really matter what the gift in question was — it was going to cost too much, and while I have an abundance of patience, money is not nearly as well stocked.
December is a cruel mistress. She gives love but will strip the flesh from my bones to make the magic happen. Alas, I relent, return to my writing cave and reflect on the Christmas days of my childhood.
I remember sitting on the small sofa, squeezed between my older brother, the perfect son, and my younger sister, the angel; I was the dark force that balanced the family universe.
