This reminded me of the work lunches with the owner of a company I worked for years ago. When the mood struck, he'd leave the corporate office, come up to the shop and take me out for lunch and a few drinks. It was insane to me that he'd have 3 or 4 stiff cocktails (expect me to keep up) and then expect a focused and productive afternoon of work. I rarely had a second drink but he was a fish, then he'd climb back in his fancy SUV and motor back to the city centre.
