This strikes a cord deep within. Though I never served like you did, I ached to for many years. I was, actually set to seek a life in the Navy, particularly submarines but Canada only had a few diesel sardine cans and I wanted to be on the big nukes. Only my father talked me out of the process of crossing the border to join the USA and work my way in.

Nothing moves me more deeply than those who sign a contract with their lives in the balance. Those that go into conflict as their 9-5. I am a member of Valor Canada, an organization serving and supporting veterans, and this reminded me of war stories I used to write and post as FB posts. We mustn't forget those that sacrificed all and those that had the courage to do so day in, day out. I'm proud to see articles like this, Paul. Well done and you've inspired me to go back and find those stories I shared before and bring them into the light once more. Thank you.
