Though it is, seemingly, an impossible task, learning that we can go through life and have a good love without first earning it through the trials of an abusive one, is important.
This age-old idea that an asshole boyfriend/girlfriend is a right a passage is bullshit.
I'm not telling my daughter that like millions before her, she has to chose the "wrong" one first, try to heal and help them first. No way. My daughter will know her value and not have it carved and molded by toxic relationships.
That's a terrible educational system.
