Wait. Did you just say "you should smile more?" the current statement, when said to a woman, validates beheading??
Teasing. Mostly.
Well, kasey, I am old and married and have no experience in the current social dating pool, nor dating apps so I have no legs to stand on in criticizing, but, is it impossible, too late, or futile to meet people the way we used to, 30 years ago? By going out. A library, an event, a pub, bookstore, fair, market, wine tasting, hobby class, dance class, or anything else, where you can see the eyes, hear the voice, gauge the vocabulary, see the mannerisms, sense the hygiene?
Is dating apps all there is?
It feels to me like dating apps begin with turning the individual into a product first, a human being last.
It saddens me that women like you, whom I consider to be abundant in fine attributes must resort to pitching themselves the same way I pitched freelance projects to clients.
It's textbook freelance marketing 101: Know your niche-and target audience, short bio statement, media/image to make immediate emotional connection, demonstrate credibility/authority, offer a clear value statement, close with a call to action.
Also: I completely agree with your reaction to "You need to be....." I don't care what that person looks like, they need to eff off--that is incredibly arrogant.
I hope I didn't cause offense.
