A long, long time ago

I can still remember how I had time to write for me

But I knew I’d find the time

To pound the keys and maybe earn a dime

And maybe my muse would let me be

Ok, I’m no Don McLean, I can’t play an instrument or sing, but unlike the instigator of this musical prompt, I can whistle and snap my fingers.

Sort of.

Right about when the last warm breaths of autumn blew the October leaves across crisp lawns, music lover and fellow Medium writer Steve Goldberg published a piece searching for music featuring the abilities he lacked — whistling lips and snapping fingers.

While my whistling talents are limited to loud, shrill, melodic, and full, I never did master the two-finger-in-the-mouth sonic…
