Yup. I have one who does this. I've always found it strange. I also have several comments with loads of claps.

But the worst are the disingenuous AI or skim and highlight commenters who say things like, "I found your article very informative and uplifting"--when it's on fiction story.

But I ignore, don't clap the comment and don't interact because as I understand it, engaging with those types, especially those with 200 or less followers is a red flag to Medium and you can get booted for engaging with Medium scammers.
